After landing, the crew remain aboard Lander One while Walter heads out alone to sample the atmosphere. They discover a verdant world ripe in vegetation but mysteriously devoid of animal life.
Upon reaching the uncharted world, Tennessee, Ricks and Upworth remain aboard the Covenant in orbit while the rest of the crew heads to the surface in a dropship to explore. Branson’s wife Daniels officially protests but is overruled. Presented with a seemingly perfect home just a few weeks away and with none of the crew wanting to re-enter hypersleep after witnessing Branson’s fate, Oram elects to investigate. When they trace the rogue transmission to its source, they find it originated from a nearby planet perfect for human habitation, better even than the Predatorictions for Origae-6. When the message is analyzed on board, the crew are able to discern an unidentified human humming a classic rock song within the image.
While undertaking a spacewalk to conduct exterior repairs, pilot Tennessee picks up a fragmented, distorted transmission via his suit’s communications systems. The Covenant’s first officer, Chris Oram, assumes command of the mission.
During one of the repair sessions, Daniels, the wife of Branson, talks to Walter, an improved android model, about a cabin Branson desired to make on the new planet, which Walter keeps to memory. The surviving crew manages to bring the disaster under control, although 47 colonists and 16 embryos are lost alongside their captain. When a shockwave damages the ship, Walter reanimates his 15-human crewmates, themselves couples and colonists, but Captain Branson is incinerated inside his cryotube when it fails to open. The ship is monitored by Walter, an advanced android model that physically resembles David. The colonization ship Covenant is seven years from reaching planet Origae-6, with 2,000 colonists in stasis and 1,140 human embryos in cold storage. (ALIEN COVENANT ORIGINS) January 5 th, 2104Ĭolony spacecraft USCSS Covenant launches from Earth orbit, bound to reach Origae-6 after a trip of 8 years. Duncan believes to have witnessed a Prediction through his dreams of an invasion on Earth by alien creatures, he thinks that the Covenant’s mission will eventually lead to it becoming by making humanity’s existence known to what is out in the universe. The group behind it are named Earthsavers, fanatics who follow the vision of Duncan Fields, known as The Prophet to them. During the last preparations for its departure, the USCSS Covenant, a colony spacecraft designed and manufactured by Weyland-Yutani to transport 2,000 colonists, 1,140 second-generation embryos, and its crew of 15, across vast interstellar distances to the planet Origae-6, suffers several attacks to have its flight sabotaged, including attempts to blow the ship, infiltrate Covenant’s security’s team, the kidnapping of Hideo Yutani’s daughter and WY CEO’s assassination.
